Evaluation Task - Narrative

Use of Narrative

We used many different approaches to establish narrative in our trailer, one of which was the inclusion of the sci-fi genre and all the indicators we showed to express the genre in our trailer. We used loads of conventions and multiple inclusions of special effects to show the science fiction of the trailer. Some of the special effects include scenes with robots in them and other scenes with nuclear explosions, we did this to give away a major part of our narrative and story, we did this to create enigmas and express Todorov's Theory of Narrative. The use of aliens and robots feeds the narrative as these will be used as the main plot points and will an important selling point to our trailer. Using aliens and robots makes sales as it has been proven to be a good selling point for a lot of movies and has proven to be very successful.

Our magazine and poster helped display other themes and show other ideas such as the importance of some characters. Showing the zombie as the main theme tells the audience it is a horror film as zombies connote to horror films and as this zombie is shown as being credible it tells to audience that the character is a major part of the film. Also the magazine and poster tells audience information the trailer may not of shown such as the unique selling point (USP) we did this to succeed in marketing our movie through the poster and magazine as it will intrigue the audience. By creating multiple enigmas and using all 3 productions effectively it can focus on intriguing the audience and therefore the marketing campaign being a success this will then captivate the audience and would lead to sales of the film.
