Iron Man 3 Trailer Analysis

This is the trailer of the third in a Marvel Trilogy, Iron Man 3. During the trailer Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is doing a voiceover, the aim of a voiceover is to tell the story or give credit information, in this trailer a voiceover is used to tell the story so far and describe himself and hes issues in this movie, The trailer is also shown using one liners to add a dramatic effect to the movie, the one liner used is from the antagonist "Never see me coming" while fading to black and showing the back of the antagonist. This adds to the dramatic effect because we see a antagonist that could cause some trouble for Iron Man, the use of the camera only showing the back of the antagonist is a dramatic camera angle used to show an important character.
We can immediately tell it is an Action movie because there are multiple explosions and big guns firing at Tony Stark's house, these all conform to the general stereotype of an Action movie as we usually see these things in the Action genre. During the trailer there is a montage of a series of shots from different points in the movie to highlight some of the most dramatic moments of the film and it tends to be fast paced. Throughout the trailer there is very intense music and creates the shocking and dramatic atmosphere for the movie. The titles are not displayed until the end this may be because they wanted to focus more on the actual film and have no interruptions of titles. All the stars of the film are showed throughout  the movie most with shocked and dramatic looks, they all look worried which adds more excitement to the movie because it proves Iron Man has his toughest test yet.

The target audience for this movie would be teenage boys and girls and families because Marvel like to aim at the younger teenage generation for their films but families could also enjoy this movie because it is family friendly. Teenage boys feel like the main aim because teenage boys probably grew up reading the comics of the Iron Man and now they can watch the movies.

The trailer uses sound well throughout the movie as the music adds a more intense and dramatic effect to the movie, the music plays an important role in this trailer to create the atmosphere. There are also little sound effects such as iron mans suit sound effects to add excitement for the target audience as they would already know the sound. The sound is also used well with the voiceover this adds important information that adds to the story line of the movie.

The trailer adds some effective and dramatic camera shots to show important characters and who the next antagonist is, the camera also shows important events throughout the clip as it works well with editing because it shows important events in a face paced and in a montage. The camera shows the important stars in this movie to tell the audience these are characters who play big roles in the movie. The camera also works well with sound because when they say dramatic one liners the camera shows the characters after or during.

The trailer also uses mise-en-scene very well because it shows different Iron Man suits to conform to the action genre and show that this still is an Iron Man movie. The end of the trailer shows multiple suits in what looks like a big final fight scene, mise-en-scene is used well as it shows this is an Iron Man movie. The camera shots show the suits flying above the camera and shows that there is a lot of the suits.

Finally the trailer also uses good editing as the whole trailer is used as if it is a montage of all the important events and is very fast paced. The camera helps the editing as these fast paced scenes are showing huge moments that could be very dramatic but because it goes so quick you cannot see it.
